Four hours.
- A forty-minute Bible study.
- Thirty-five minutes of it was the passage.
- The rest was slides, reminders, and a schedule that moved twice.
- Necessary. Not ministry.
The tax
- The dinner needs a signup.
- The trip needs a waiver.
- The group needs an invite and two reminders.
- A hundred years ago you knocked on a door. Now you coordinate.
The value chain
- Bottom: retyping, formatting, chasing, scheduling.
- Top: judgment, presence, the hard conversation, prayer.
- Anything can do the bottom. Only you can do the top.
The day fills from the bottom
- Low work is louder — deadlines and notifications.
- Nothing pings you when a man in your group is quietly drowning.
- So you get good at the bottom. It feels like diligence the whole time.
"It is not right that we should give up preaching the word of God to serve tables."

What they refused to do
- They didn't abolish it — the widows still ate.
- They didn't call it beneath the church.
- Stephen served tables, then preached the longest sermon in the book.
- Not a demotion. Just not theirs.
The test 🙏
- Jesus took a towel. Sometimes the admin is the love.
- Is this the thing only I can do?
- Is this what love requires right now?
- Menial and loving stays. Menial and mechanical goes.
Let the machines take the tables.
I want to take the people.
